Head room in 968 Coupe - How much?
#21

I am 6'4" but with most of my height in my torso, so I suppose I'm really closer to 6'7" for this measurement.

My head rubbed against the sunroof panel and bumped against the latch when I first bought the car (no helmet). I replaced the OEM seats with Recaros, removed the bottom half (headliner) of the sunroof panel, and had low-profile sunroof hinges fabricated. That, plus a dished aftermarket steering wheel, and I can now sit comfortably with probably the best ergonomics of any car I've owned. In order to fit with a helmet, I have to use a thinner, custom-made seat cushion. With that cushion, my butt is about 1" off the carpet.

Having said all that, the 968 seems to have above-average headroom vs. other sportscars. It was one of the main factors in my purchase.

Thanks Indisch,

94 cm = 37 in, which is almost exactly the same measurement as the SUV I usually drive.

Overall, it does not sound like headroom will be a problem day to day. Helmets may be a different matter, but there are alternatives/fixes.

93nav, answers to your questions: 94 cm, late type fully electric seat at its lowest position, sunroof. I'm 6'2", no issues with head clearance. It is fine with helmet on also, though that depends on how you prefer to adjust our seating position.
