H&R RSS coilovers - anyone done it ?
#1

I heard that Automotion was having a 20% off sale. I called and asked what coilovers they offered and they mentioned a H&R coilover setup which they would sell for about $1950. The sale ends tomorrow. Does anyone have any direct experience or comments about this setup ? It appears that H&Rs guidance is to remove the torsion bars with this setup. I presume the model number is HNR-RSS37827-1 by looking at other vendors websites.

Although some have done it for their street cars, general consensus seems to be that removing the torsion bars is for a track-only setup. Keeping the torsion bars keeps the ride quality bearable. For a track-only car, absolutely remove them. Also, I'll say from experience that it's good to be cautious about getting a non-adjustable coilover kit that you have never driven. You might not like it.

you could change the spring rates on those and not lose the torsion bars - we ran a very similar setup in ds968's car, using a 250# up front and a 90# in the rear (along with the tender) - handles very well, and is quite civilized

that is the first kit i have seen with the tender springs, which are critical in not raising the car due to the preload required on other kits that is necessary so as to hold the spring in place during wheel drop

i find the rubber bushings highly suspect in a torsion delete application - every other shock manufacturer will tell you that the rubber will not hold up to the full load, and that you need a bearing there
