Greetings from the Biggest Little City!
#1

Greetings all, I am a new member. I recently purchased a very clean 1992 968 Cab. It has 107K on the clock, and has been very well maintained. It does, as expected, have the usual TLC issues, which is where I hope to get some advice from you long-time owners.

First on the list of challenges are sticky door lock actuators, and the process by which I can install a remote opener into the existing harness. Anyone with any advice on this process?

Thanks,

Matt

Welcome! There are documents on remote keyless entry (probably search for Bulldog) and for automatic windows (probably search for Window Express).

+1 on the Bulldog, fairly easy to do but you need 3 12v relays as well if you want the lights to flash on lock/unlock and trunk.

Thanks, just installed the new stereo, which was very straightforward thanks to the help the documents on this forum provided. I knew what each wire was for, and connected the new unit accordingly. Worked perfectly first time.

I will look into the bulldog unit. Still trying to figure out the constant gas smell in the cabin.

This is a fun car! I am amazed at how many people, even Porsche owhers, have never heard of the 968.

I would work on the sticky door handles sooner than later, if they break, they are a GIANT pain in the butt to fix. I would take out the bolt holding the handle on (the one in the door jamb) and carefully pull the door handle away from the door slightly (don't want to break off one of the actuators) and spray some cleaner down into the door lever and then some door lock graphite...that should help out a bit.
