Greetings from Vienna, Austria
#1

I am an English musician hoping to close on a 1992 968 Cabrio next week. I had a 924S for 20 years in Indiana and did 250,000 miles in it. when I moved here I got a 1911 Panamera 4S, but decided it was too big for the narrow roads here. Currently I drive a 1992 Miata, but the 968 is more my cup of tea.

Greets david-p,

Youve got the Porsche fever posting before the car is in your mits. I get it. A euro spec 968 cabriolet in Vienna coming from a 924S = serenity.

How about the Panamera, is it really that old?

I will say nothing against my 924S: it carried me safely for 250k miles and I enjoyed every mile. I am interested to see how different the 968 is. The technology is in several ways incredibly advanced for its era -- even TPMS in one configuration -- but without the irritating bells and whistles of my Miata.

Best,

David

If you really end up liking it, I will happily sell you mine as a spare...

Hope everything is going as planned with the purchase. The 924s was another, almost unknown Porsche like the 968. I wanted a 924 turbo with the M471 suspension pkg until I realized I was as drooling on the Euro spec version.

With the 25 year rule here in the States your potential purchase is timed to be a good investment if sold in the US. TPMS, rear fog lamp, headlamp height adjusters, headlamp washers, heated seats very desired options from a ROW car.

Pete, you would be amazed how much planning is involved and how much time takes here. Money to move, insurance to arrange, seller to liase with, registration to organise. All in different locations.  I recall that things go much more smoothly along in the USA. But, if I succeed in getting this all together, it will,be worth it.

You mean you dont get all those options in usa? The one thing you have that we dont is the cubby holes in the back instead of rear seats!

I googled 968 for sale and apparently theres so few of them that the international market appears too. There was a nice and well put together advertisement with Vienna bannered across one of them.

I figured Id ask. Ive had mine about three weeks and its surpassed every expectation I had of owning a transaxle Porsche.

I was hoping for a picture of your new ride parked between two Smart cars at the Billa market.
