while the topic has been covered lots of times, I decided to write about it for the Porsche Club of America's E-Brake newsletter. what I'd like to know is who, exactly, is making Porsche's pressure plates these days. other than Porsche and manufacturer part number stamps, there aren't any embossing/engraving marks on the metal facing that tells us who it might be.

I've been preaching this for years. The first thing I warn potential buyers of 968 is to depress clutch pedal and see if there is a crossover point of spring pressure roughly 1/2 to 2/3 through the stroke. The pedal should get easier toward floor. If not you have 964 pressure plate it will become harder to depress all the way to floor. This will eventually crack the firewall. 

BTW, the new "Correct" pressure plate isn't manufactured by Sachs.

this article was great I am sure I have the wrong pressure plate when I asked my mechanic he didn't know any thing about a green stripe. This one is nothing like the way it worked before I had to get a new one.
