Engine cover (front of engine)
#1

I posted earlier asking about the my (keeping my fingers crossed that it all goes smoothly) new 968. I'm picking it up in a couple of weeks and am starting to gather info, ideas, pricing, etc. I'm looking for the engine covering that goes at the front of the engine. I see some cars have it and some don't. I like the look and am looking for some. I'm assuming they are hard to find and I'm hoping that someone can post some part numbers. I have access to a lot of Porsche people and I'm hoping I turn over enough rocks...

Thanks,

Travis

I have a '95, which did not come with the front or rear engine compartment covers. I have done the airbox mod which I strongly reccomend that you do. With this mod, the front cover hides the modification and probably aids in air flow.

Anyway... I got mine from a bone yard that handles the 968. I would not suggest getting it from Porsche, as most of their prices are out of sight. I asked that mine be in perfect shape and it was.

Here are some places where I have been treated well. You can also try Ebay.

NEW:

http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/shopca...44M_catalog.htm

Pelican lists the front # 944-504-143-00 at $365 and the rear # 944-504-533-00 for $ 197.

Jeff at Sunset Imports will sell to you at 10% over cost if you really want OEM, new.

Used should be about a third to half of that.

I hope that you enjoy your 968.

Fantastic. Thank you for the reply. I also own a small online Porsche business so I'll see what my prices are. I would rather have new but if the price is still crazy then I'll see what they look like used.

Thanks for the tip!
