Wanted: ......

broken glass, but working 968 front fog light unit

I am Just looking for a complete 968 front fog lamp unit (less glass), (but anything to experiment fitting a 993 lens after smashing an original parking too close to a bollard at my local Esso filling station, grr).

"Why not repair the one you broke?" I hear you ask - well the method is:

- use my broken unit, along with a 2nd broken unit, fabricate some spacers and fit a pair of 993 lenses I happen to have to make a matching pair.

- this way I can keep my one good 968 unit unmolested, until such time an OEM right hand unit becomes available.

Well, that's the method in my madness, and for now I've fitted a pair of 993/RS2/968 brake disk air ducts, and painted them riviera blue to match my car (and in actual fact it looks good and saves a bit more weight).

summary: I'm looking for someone to sell me and ship a single OEM Hella fog with the glass smashed/removed - to make the rest of the unit nice and light to ship to me in UK - will obviously pay shipping and for the unit. Alternatively if you have a perfect and complete right hand side 968 OEM fog light I'm interested in that too, but a broken one will do just fine for now.

AND: Hella - why don't you sell just the glass for these lights on the 968 like you do for the 993! Sad

I just can't justify buying a complete OEM unit from Porsche for £400GBP/$600USD in the UK when all I need is the glass!

If I were to mount a new fog lamp , I. E. not OEM I would try to find some old style fog lamps from the 1960's. They were much more powerful brighter and projected light farther down the road. Recently in the states there was an article saying that almost all headlights on all cars do not reflect objects 300 feet down the road on low beam, recommending people drive on high beams which I do and no one notices, the artic le said the same thing regarding fog lamps. This article appeared in the auto section of the NY Times.
