For those of you who don't know about the 385HP 1994 964 Turbo S Flachbau......

the JDM 964 Flatnose had a 944-esque front end (like the 930's). The rest of the world was given a 964 with a 968-esque front end.

the 1994 Turbo S was the final run for the 964 and the last handbuilt 911 ever built.

93 Cars were built total.
-39 U.S. Spec Flachbau (Flatnose) cars
-17 Standard nose u.s. spec 964 Turbo S's
-27 ROW Spec Flachbau (Flatnose) cars
-10 JDM Spec Flachbau (Flatnose) Cars

U.S. & ROW 964 (968-esque) Turbo S.

These 93 cars also had the same Wheels which came standard on the 16 968 Turbo S cars Porsche built. Unlike the regular 964 Turbo wheels, they are polished like the 968 Turbo s wheels. All 93 '94 Turbo S cars are worth big bucks. The JDM cars are likely worth the most (being the rarest).

They work well on our rear engine brothers.
Unique mod without the chop shop look. I like it!

Road Scholars has a low mileage red-tan flachbau. IMO, the most beautiful 911 ever made and uber-rare. If money were no object, a no brainer. Check out the red-tan one:

I've sold a few fender and headlight set ups to guys doing flachbau conversions in the past.
The 968 fenders are cut up and used for the light cutout.

They are one of my favorite factory Porsches.

As much as I dislike the 911 models in general, I nonetheless drool at the site of that Flachbau.. for $ 200k I'd still prefer another car or two, over it ( a low mileage DB9 or F 430, etc. ) , but man, what a beauty !!

Dan,

a DB9 or F430 will never hold their value like a '94 964 Flachbau will.

Sexy beetle. I would never spend that kind of cash on a 911. Beautiful, but Id rather have an original 968 turbo s. Sure they were tuned down to not overshadow the flagship, but it doesnt take much tinkering to walk a 964. Ill take a properly balanced front engine car any day. The TS is even more rare too. Of course money is an issue in my world, so Ill just settle for a replica. Same car in the end, less bragging rights. Sure is a sexy front end tho..... I want to like 911's, but rear engine just kills it for me.

While i like the 968 better for the reasons you mentioned, The Sound of an aircooled turbocharged H6 under WOT right behind you is an unmatched experiance. If money were no object, a U.S. Spec '94 Flachbau would be in my garage parked along side a 968 Turbo S and several other's.

A buddy of mine had a 964 3.3L Turbo with a few modifications. Last time id rove that car must have been 6 years ago...but i still remember what a great experiance it was and how much i enjoyed piloting that car.

Love the name. Flachbau - makes me smile just saying it... And it intones real well too. YOu can say it with a tony London accent, a down home Charlotte drawl, or a nice mid-west twang. Flachbau. Great stuff.

Rather than $200K on this one absolutely incredible car, I would get a little collection, each perhaps in the $20-$40 range.
- a 67 jaguar e-type
- a 356 B or C coupe
- a 69 MB 280SL
- a 59 Lincoln
- a 65 or 67 Corvette
- a 67 VW bug
- a Shelby Cobra replica
- and so many other choices!

Fox, investment value-wise that's very true, but resale potential has never held an interest for me. Does not even contribute a 1% factor to considering what I want to own /drive. Same with 968 Turbo S ; I could care less if it'll be worth $ 250,000 another ten years from now, for the power it offers over a regular 968 I'd pay maybe 50% more than I would for that regular 968..not a penny more. I don't see the justification of paying 10X more simply because you own one of only 16 models made.. but that's just my view on things, so I guess I'll never own a Turbo S
So even though it's faster than a DB9, or an F430, and in spite of being one of the best looking VW bugs, it's still a VW bug to me. But I'm warped that way, I traded in a 911SC for a 944 so what can I say..
