glove box key
#1

I lost my glove box key, and need to get another one. Is that key the same ( cut pattern ) for all 968s or does it vary and if so will Sunset or local dealer need the VIN to replicate it ?

My regular key works in my glovebox. I don't have a special one.

Yup, just tried it - same here. Duh.. just because one of the three keys I got when I bought the car had a different shaped ( flat, oval and smaller ) head than the ignition original and duplicate keys, I used it as my glove box key, never bothering to look at the cut itself or I would have realized it's identical.. But wtf, if you hand your car keys to the valet or car wash guys and want to lock the glove box, wouldn't one think you should have a separate key which works with that ? When you count the Radar Detector, iPod, Mont Blanc pen, Revo sunglasses and various other expensive crap I usually keep there when I hand the car over, we're talking $ 1,500+ . Maybe I should consider rekeying the glove box.

remember, the germans don't even believe in cupholders, let alone radar detectors (like they need them anyway - autobahn), ipods, or any other stuff that they think does not "belong" in a sports car
