while i am awaiting the return of some parts so i can put my car back on the ground, i thought i would start the finishing up of the last tidbits



i have a deviating interior, which means the carpet and trim are black and the rest is cashmere - i had the seats done the same way, as i thought the all cashmere was too much



the doors have always bugged me a bit though - they just seemed unfinished somehow - so...............

Subtle, but I like it. Sort of ties the whole thing together artistically. Surprising how such a little change can have a big overall effect. Good job.

Really nice, Flash. Looks like it is original. Like the subtle way it accents the door panels. i have an all black interior and I'm constantly looking for ways to break up the the darkness of the solid black.

thanks - yeah - i wasn't sure what was wrong - then it just hit me, so i grabbed a set and poked them in - i am really happy with the way it "ties it all together" too - i'm not sure why porsche didn't do it to begin with, but then they had odd views on interior items anyway (like the wacky switch locations and the complete absence of a cupholder)



i almost have the car i want now - the next couple of weeks should see the last little details completed, bringing the car finally up to modern standards

i was going to try to retrofit the 993 door handles and armrest pockets into my doors, but it's going to be too much of a mess - oh well

lol - i am finally getting close - a good part of getting to that was deciding that i wanted to return this car to weekend wine car status it was originally purchased for, and that it was just to be one of a number in the stable - that meant that it no longer had to be the end all beat all car - it only had to be the best 968 i could build for that purpose



so, once i button up the engine this week, and stick the new stereo in right after that, the only thing left is the new top with the zip out rear window - everything should be done in 3 weeks - after that, i just plan to drive it



not sure yet what will be next after that - still after a track toy, but it may have to wait until we move and i have more space - as it stands, i will be juggling cars to finally get to the restoration of the TR-4

Really nice beautiful look, I had all classic grey doors but the tops by the window had discolored from the window trim. I had the top redone in black and it looks much nicer now I am going to look for black door handles I like it

I like it. I was about to purchase a triple black cab a while back and thought - oh god no I'll bake to death in there. My plans were to create a unique deviating scheme. Since the car was clearly a driver I thought I'd have some fun with all the leather and as many of the vinyl bits as I could conjure leaving enough black to tie it all together. My guess is that the handles would have stayed black. Now that I see your mod I am sure of it - that creates a nice offset to the rest of the door - good balance.

I think perhaps all of us who appreciate flash's efforts so very much should make some suggestions that are required before he could declare finished: How about 4WD? A fiberglass hardtop for cabs? A bed for camping? A trailer built from the back 1/2 of a 968? A headlight solution? LS-1 conversion? The rubber damper? Suicide style rear doors for the coupe? Weber carb kit? Bonneville land speed record! Conversion kit for 968 rock crawling? Come on guys, we have to raise the bar! Anything! <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/laugh.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

lol - no worries - everyone is safe - unlike most people, i don't sell my toys and move on like that - i kept my last one for 25 years, and only sold it because i could not drive it in los angeles traffic, and could not keep as many cars as i had - before that, i had 12 cars and a handful of motorcycles, all at once - i am a bit of a collector like that - i sold them when i moved to los angeles, due to a lack of space, but now i don't have that problem, and if i wanted to, i could store a lot of cars (i just wouldn't have easy access to them)



so, while i may move on from other mods on the 968, i won't likely move on from the 968 any time soon - it will just go into the stable, and i will get a new toy to play with - i already have my eye set on a couple of cars i'd like to mess with



i'm on hold though on any new car projects until we get the new house which will have a shop on site - i'm very focused on that
