Gearset for 350 Km/h
#41

forged rods .... forged pistons ; 8,8 : 1 CR ... should be no problem up until the 1.5-1.6 bar of boost I'm looking for.

that will help. there are a couple of limitations to high boost on the 968, and i don't want to derail the gearing thread, but, they include, but are not limited to: valve float (this point becomes lower the more boost you add), rod issues (which you may have resolved), intake manifold flow limits, MAF flow limits. of course, as soon as you start adding more boost, the intercooler needs to change to work with that. you'll also have to look at the exhaust at that point, as the system needs to be able to flow that much power. it's a painful process.

Went to Germany today to pickup a set of Gt3 wheels ( 8 & 10J ). Drove 160 Km/h ( 100 mph ) on the meter most of the time ( which actually is 150 on the Satnav ) with some sporty driving whenever een Rs-badge or 911 or 12 exhaust beamer came into the mirror. After 472 Km I refilled the tank which came to 53 liters which makes 9 km on one liter

Oh, for you guys, that's 21,3 miles to the gallon ! not too bad for an 3 liter engine doing 160 Km/h ( and more ).

So yes, my 968 is environment friendly

i just don't know how you tolerate the gearing. i now have over 400nm and the stock 6th is still too tall for the acceleration i want without shifting, yet too short for the fuel economy and cruising rpm i'd like. it's better now that i went from 310hp to over 350hp, but it's still not as much as i'd like. i may just have to get used to shifting

lol - maybe i should convert it to a tip so i can just stand on the gas and let it shift on its own
