Just came across this product, Hydro-4000:



"The local news station recently tested out one of those products, and they took an SUV that was getting 9 MPG and installed a Hydro-4000 cell into it, and an hour later that same SUV was getting 23 MPG. The tests were performed on a car treadmill to ensure accuracy. The only catch is you have to top off the cell with 1 liter of distilled water every time you fill your tank."

long term effects on valves..piston rings..etc?



Seems like a great idea..electrolysis of H20 with a few ions in it...make H, and let engine vacc suck it into engine.... This unit likely makes only minute amounts of H...but maybe that is enough?





of course, you will want the full stainless exhaust system.



Maybe build your own system for less?

Dunno where these boys learned arithmatic but 23.1 vs. 9.4 is a lot more than a 60% increase. More like 145%. If it looks too good to be true.... Ya think that GM might pay this guy a whole pile of money for a technology that can do that?



I got about 23 on a 500 mile drive in the 968. Can you see that car getting over 55 mpg? Maybe if you are running it down hill with the motor off half the way.



Hate to be a skeptic but this looks like a nice way to put $1600 into this dude's pocket.

Let's see, I'm checking my calendar. It must be April 1, right? No? Then surely you guys are just having a little fun, because you can't seriously believe something like this could actually work, could you? Besides the obvious consideration that if something like this even improved gas mileage (impressively spelled "MILLAGE" on the web site) by 5%, or even 2%, it would be on the front page of every newspaper in the world, not to mention under the hood of every car, the fact is that what these guys are trying to peddle here is a perpetual motion machine.



It take a tremendous amount of energy to split water into oxygen and hydrogen by electrolysis, 57 kcal/mole, if I remember my chem 101 correctly. Where does this energy come from? The car's puny little alternator? Sheesh, give me a break. And hydrogen has such a low heat content by weight relative to superior fuels like gasoline (which is why most hydrogen-fueled concepts utilize fuel cells rather than internal combustion engines) that the extra energy it would add to the combustion process is negligible. At BEST, introducing a little water into the combustion chamber might raise the effective octane of the fuel a bit, which, in an old engine with major carbon deposits MAY improve the mileage a tad, but that would be a pretty rare occurance.



The guys on Mythbusters tested a device similar to this a year or two ago, and saw, you guessed it, zero, zip, nada, in the way of improved mileage. Trust me on this, put the $1200 toward an RS Barn header instead.

Yep, the kit must come with a hellacious transformer to jack the power high enough to break down the atoms. Once introduced into the cylinder the H probably re-bonds with O2 to make water. As mentioned, if nothing else your engine would be cleaner, [de-carbonized]. Unfortunately they didn't mention how much was being injected[?].



On a side note; H20 was commonly injected into muscle-car engines to off-set the drop in octane in the 70's.

What is the weight of the whole system?



We need to drill for oil here in the USA and build a few more oil refineries!!!!



All of this green crap is stupid, E85 is the worst of them all. What a waste of corn.
