Gas prices

Very interesting article. Have read about many of these contributing factors before. So maybe it will come down again. Wonder if that timing will be related to anything?

It's impossible to predict.  I remember hearing legendary oil man T. Boone Pickens predicting a few years before his death that we'd never see $2/gal gas again, and yet it has happened multiple times since that prediction.  It could happen again, or it could go up to $10/gal - there are just too many factors to predict.  Kind of like trying to predict who will win the super bowl in 2028.

Don't you know when you are in charge every thing is your fault.

Biden is sending us down the rabbit hole of the green agenda way before we are truly ready for it. It needs to be a gradual change, not a sudden right turn. However this all started with Obama and the cash for clunkers bit. That was a bid to red the country of as many old but serviceable cars as possible, forcing everyone to have to buy something new instead of repairing something old they could afford. This is why Jeep grand wagoneers are 100K! Ridiculous!

I am sorry and you can get mad at me, and ban me, I don't care. This administration is killing this country. They have all been scheming for years on how to fleece us. The only thing progressive about Biden is his dementia, and Harris sounds like an 11 year old at show and tell in front of the class. My 4 year old grandson I think is smarter than they are.

This country, the power, the money, the positions, have all been divied up between these people and there will be little we can do about it. They insulate themselves in their circles of backscratching and payoffs, to keep themselves in power. Politicians should wear suits like nascar drivers so voters know who is buying them and who they are indebted to. Perfect example, why in God's name is Pelosi still in power? Every woman I know has long since retired at her age. Either she has so much money she can keep buying her way in, or she has so much dirt on everyone they are afraid to can her. Again, it's who you know because she started with who her father was.

I would almost rather be in Ukraine shooting at Russians. At least you know who your enemy is on on the battlefield. I am glad I won't live to see most of this come to pass.

There is an old saying that you get the government you deserve. I guess the jokes on us.

By the way, I paid $4.25 yesterday. $90 to fill the silverado.

Our regular is $4.39 and has been for weeks. We were out to dinner last night, first time in a long time, and I remarked the the roads were remarkably light on cars. Gas prices? Basketball? Hmmm.

I wish our traffic was lighter with the price of gas as it is, but no such chance ; it almost seems worse than it was the last couple of months .

Gas prices have begun to come off their peaks around here, which seems to coincide with tentative indications that the world isn't about to end after all.

When attempting to make sense of the world, we have to keep in mind that a free press, while infinitely superior to the brainwashing propaganda machine in places like Russia, is in business to make money, so what we consume naturally has a negative bias to it, to play off peoples' tendency to respond to things that appear threatening.  Despite all the awful things that have happened in the world, especially since the turn of this decade, the reality that this is still, by far, the best time in human history to be alive.  And as far as the tired drumbeat about how crooked and awful our government officials are, one thing I never hear from folks who endlessly espouse these views is any sort of alternative.  Human beings are flawed, and the humans currently inhabiting the upper echelons of government are no exception, but that doesn't mean they're a crooked bunch of blithering idiots.  It's true that we have the second-worst form of government ever conceived, with the worst being everything else that's ever been tried.

I was born 100 years too late. I hope I am not around more than another 20 at most. I can't keep this crap up much longer.

I'm tired.

I sincerely doubt you would want any part of living in the world 100 years ago.  You would make skid marks racing to that time machine to get you back to today's world.  Things will be better 20 years from now, even better 100 years from now, and beyond our wildest imaginations 1000 years from now.  I suggest getting a copy of Enlightenment Now, by Steven Pinker.  He really puts into perspective how much progress mankind has made over time on every conceivable front, despite outward appearances of all the gloom and doom.

Ca is doing its part to reduce driving. You are all to be commended. Just think how much cleaner Ca air could be if the price went up to $10.00? Keep up the good work.

Is there actually a correlation between gas prices and the amount of driving?  I suspect there isn't much, especially in places like California and other western states where there isn't much public transportation.  Hopefully this will encourage more people to buy EV's, but the price of lithium and other raw materials has also skyrocketed lately, so it's just a tough situation overall.

Not much impact on driving habits, people in this state will make other sacrifices to offset the gas prices.   This is California, our cars are more important than food and water .

( and if we have to switch from our fancy bottled water to tap water, or from organic kale and quinoa to common lettuce,  in order to pay extra for driving, so be it !  Tongue )

Yeah, here in Austin, where gas prices haven't risen quite as much as in other parts of the country, but are still the highest they've been in years, there has been zero impact on traffic.  If anything, it's worse than ever, but of course that's impacted by a lot of factors.

Watch diesel prices as to the health of our economy. The production of the diesel distillate has plummeted.
