Fuel issue
#1

When I park the car facing uphill ( on a decent incline , say , > 20 % ) it has a really hard time starting ; it stumbles, idles very roughly , " shakes rattles and rolls " and often stalls. But it does not do that if it's parked facing down hill. Or on a flat surface . Just when it's tilted with the nose up and tail down. So guessing it must be fuel delivery related , but what ? Fuel pump ? Fuel rail ? Fuel filter ? Some kind of fuel control valve ? The FPR ? Gas tank connection issue ?

probably the check-valve back by the fuel filter

I think that's what I had replaced not too long ago when I had the cold start problem . I'll have to check my records, pretty sure it was on this car . Not that it means it couldn't get stuck again .

How long does it take to clear

Is it from cold

Is it when it's hot

Any other observations that might help

Takes minutes but that's if I just leave it to idle. If I rev it up and /or drive it away it recovers and runs just fine, but the rpms are high enough at that point. Never parked it uphill while the engine is warm and then tried to start it shortly thereafter, so I only noticed this symptom while the engine is cold.

I would think the fuel pump would refill and pressurise the rail in seconds even if the non return valve is leaking past, that normally causes issues with hot starting as the fuel boils in the injectors with no pressure.

yours is an interesting issue, not really sure what parking uphill would affect to the point of making it run rough.

unless the fuel is draining back out of the system completely and the tank filter, and fuel filter are blocked solid, and the FPR is playing up.

it takes about 10-15 seconds to fill the rail, if it is empty.  if the check valve allows the fuel to go back to the tank, the car will run rough until it does.  it may even run rough for another 30-40 seconds, or more unless you turn off the key, wait a few seconds, and then start it again.  this is because the ECU is so slow.  turning it off resets it, and at that point the rail has filled up, and all is normal again.

So I looked at my service / repair records and I did have the fuel check valve replaced ( as was the fuel filter ) but the uphill parking starting problems persist . The car has to sit at least a couple of days to exhibit those symptoms , but they are still happening ( happened this afternoon , after a four day rest with the front of the car facing up hill ). And again, it's never a problem if the car is level, or facing downhill, no matter how long it's parked without being driven. So if it's NOT the fuel check valve and the symptom happems ONLY when the car's nose is tilted upwards , what else can it be .?!

Build a garage on a flat surface.

do not assume that a new part means that it works.  frankly, new parts are the most suspect to me.

Perhaps. Before starting jumper the dme so the pump runs. Check if the symptons still excist. If still excist Problem related to the fuelsystem. If not. Other problem.. perhaps electric connector failure somewhere... perhaps in the original alarmsystem.

In the alarmsystem. There is a sensor that registrated the'angle' of the car. Maybe that one is culprit and shuts the fuelsystem on and of with a sequence that gives the symptons yoy describe. I remember that you have not so long ago problems with the gasposition throttle sensor and the idle stabilisor.

Maybe still related to each other because the alarmsystem triggers that wire from the dme.
