Yes, the problem is since I did the work. The biggest thing was I installed a new set of cams. I also did all new seals, belts, water and pump. I am confident I timed the cams properly, as well as all the belts.
At no time in all this did I remove the injector rail, though I did depressurize/disconnect the fuel lines so I could get the cam cover off.
Today I pulled the injector rail, attached a catch bottle to each injector, and cranked the engine. Each injector showed an intermittent (timed pulse) spray pattern, as I think it should, so I put things back together, and the same problem occurred again. I am going with the short idea, as an experienced mechanic friend (unfortunately on the other coast) also thinks. He thinks I bumped something during all the work that is causing a short, but I'll be darned if I can it.
I had this problem once before in the past and solved it by replacing al the injectors, but that's so expen$ive. I also have a spare ECU I can swap in to see if that's acting up.

I doubt very much that you need injs or an ECM, recheck all your connections, I'm new to the 968 world but have some expericnce, is't there a cam or crank angle sensor on that engine, is it plugged in? go back over everything you plugged or unplugged, do the simple stuff first before looking for a bad inj or ecm etc. it sounds like you have fuel, do you have good spark? you said it starts but shuts down?
