fuel filter
#1

I'm gathering up parts for my 60K maintenance. Which fuel filter (or both?) do I need (from PET page 201-25)?

928 110 253 05 item 13 OR

928 201 081 04 item 25

Also, must this/these come from Porsche, or are there decent aftermarket filter(s)?

Thanks

Item 13 is the usual fuel filter that needs regular replacing. Maehl KL-40 is the OEM part -- available from any of your favorite parts supplier (Paragon, dealer, etc, etc....).

Item 25 is interesting -- I didn't know there was one there. It's a filter just before the fuel pump. I've never heard of people replacing it as routine maintenance.

Yes It's the Mahle KL-40.

Be sure to ask whoever you buy from. Some vendors such as Tweeks try to pass off the 944 filter [KL-20] as an equivilent when it's not.

In fact if anyone needs a KL-20 for a 944 I have one for sale, [new in the box]; Tweeks didn't want it back.

The other number is probably for the strainer thats in the tank with the filter. Strainers typically last the life of the car if continuously submerged.

Try Sunset Imports in Oregon. www.sunsetimpports.com They frequently have the best price. Good luck, Bob Blackwell.

Maybe pick it up from you if we get a chance to meet up? I will be starting to spend more time in SoCal over the fall. Are you going to be a the track day?

@Joe

No I can't make the track day. I see the price has gone down on the KL-20. I paid 19.99 and they're going for $17. My loss your gain - make me a fair offer. Let me know when you're down in the area...
