968 Convertible Storage Bins & Brace
#1

I want to get 968 Convertible Storage Bins for my Coupe. I'm going to remove the rear seats, they are never used.

Anyway, i was looking at pictures of Cabs with rear seats as well as cabs with storage bins. I noticed the cabs with storage bins have an extra brace.

So my question is, what is this brace for? to stiffen up the chassis? i have a Weltmeister harness/chassis brace and would not mind adding this brace if it is functional.

My car has a Linen gray interior and i posted a classifieds ad. If there are any Cab owners with a linen gray interior that want rear seats in their cab, let me know. It would save both of us money if we swap my seats for a the bins & brace.

Here are a couple pictures of the brace

The "brace" is just bolted into the wooden top of the storage bins. They are in fact there to keep grocery bags and other items that may be placed on the top shelf from tumbling down onto the floor. It is not functional as far as it relates to stiffening the chassis.

my box unit, complete with the "grocery bar", are sitting up in the attic (black and cashmere though) - someday i should put that thing up for sale - i'm never going to use it now that i have the sub in there, and i'm not going to be selling the car - no point in keeping it

it's a custom built fiberglass unit - it is .35 cu ft per side, and fits down into the seat wells - it contains 2 8" drivers - low response is just below 40hz

It's all coming back to me now. I remember that build.

I still have a 10" bazooka in my trunk taking up all the room, but it sounds great.
