Found one!
#1

Just did the deal:

2002 Carrera Coupe
41k
6 speed
Orient Red Metallic
Full black leather
PSM
Advanced Technic Package (Bose and Bi-Xenon)
Comfort Package (memory seats and some other stuff)
18" Turbo Wheels w/ colored crests
PPI identified an RMS leak that was due a new seal. The price was adjusted accordingly in tight coordination with my local mechanic.

Now all I have to do is ship it to Raleigh...

Pictures soon (if anybody is interested)

I feel like an 8 year old who just got a big yellow Tonka dumptruck!

Congratulations! I love the Orient red color; it looks very sharp on a coupe! I'd love to see photos!

Well well, I see some of us are doing pretty well in this economy.

Sounds like a nice find. The anticipation must be killing you. I'm very interested in seeing the pics. If I were to ever have 2 Porsches I think I would also go with a 911 and a 968. Giving me 2 totally different driving experiences.

You are keeping the 968 aren't you?

I love my 968 for what it is & don't hate it for what it isn't!

Sadly the 968 has gone to greener pastures (hahahahahah - greener, as in Amazon Green. Sometimes I kill myself). Actually a hard decision, but it gave me $10k to play with in the upgrade your Porsche sweepstakes. At 120k the 968 was never going to be worth more, and that rear hatch seal seperation was really starting to scare me... and the camshafts... and the DMF... and the... well, you get the picture.

I really loved that car. Perhaps the thing I liked about it the most was its "uniqueness." The 968 started endless conversations, even with fellow Porsche types. There were only one or two in my PCA region, and none in Amazon. This actually made my 996 search kinda tough, as I was determined not to buy yet another silver/gray/black Carrera. They are downright common, the green Ford Explorer of the Porsche set. And while Oriental Red Metallic was a standard color in 2002, this is one of the few cars that made it to the states in that color. And my wife wanted red - and that really drove the train! I actually gave up trying to find a Guards Red 02/03 996 coupe with decent miles and options.

Picture album is linked in my Rennlist 996 board post (now, now... everyone on Rennlist is not a cheese-eating surrender monkey). Can't link it here and I gave up trying to post pictures a long time ago.

Excellent Ralph, at least you are still in the Porsche Family. Hope to see your new ride at Hershey...

Congrats, Ralph! It's always nice to find what you're looking for. I felt the same way with my 911SC Targa which I've wanted since high school. By the way, if you need a little push over the edge, I think I have a vintage Yellow Tonka dump truck from my childhood I would be willing to part with... Orient Red is very nice on these cars and looks good on the Boxster as well. I'd go with that over Guards Red any day just to avoid commonality.
