Floating Valve Train???
#1

I'm looking at purchasing a 968 and was wondering: Are these free floating motors? I found a nice 968 with a broken timebelt, but I don't want to purchase it if there's a possibility of cylinder head problems. Any advice would be a great help.

Thanks,
Marcus

welcome to the site

while this particular area of the site is not the place to ask questions like that, which it says right at the top, the answer to your question is "no"

this is definitely an interference engine - it the timing belt is broken, there is a very good chance that at least some of the valves are bent - you have to be VERY lucky to escape that

please feel free to have further conversation on the subject in the appropriate area of the site - the Tutorial will show you the various areas

***Sorry for posting in the wrong category, which I was aware of. I, for some reason, kept getting kicked out when trying to post to the technical forum.*****

Thanks anyway.

no worries

the Tutorial explains all about that, but basically there is a "training" period whereby you have to walk before you run

not all areas are immediately available - you gain more access with more participation
