Coolant was leaking from the little bypass hose off the thermostat housing. I didn't have a new o-ring so I just RTV'd it and fixed that.
Replaced the front sway bar bushings, the passenger side was oil soaked. Then I RTV'd up the power steering hose connection that's right above the bushing.
Almost all the oil pan bolts needed about a 1/4 turn.
The oil level sending unit was leaking, RTV'd it up also.
Cleaned the under belly pans and the residue off real good.
Checked it after a long drive, voila! Dry as a bone now. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/smile.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/smile.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

Silver - congratulations!
Y'know you've given me an idea: my oil pan has been seeping for some time - I have a new gasket on hand - but read so many warnings about over-torquing the pan bolts that I haven't sinched them up to stop the drips.
Did you find that your bolts were below factory torque spec? Or did you just crank'm down? <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/tongue.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

With a car that has 138,000 on it, torque specs don't mean diddly to an old compressed gasket. I tightened them with a 9" long 3/8 drive ratchet as tight as I could get them. Keep in mind I'm only 5'5" and not very strong - I have some friends that could strip bolts easily by using all their strength - I don't have that problem! <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/smile.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/smile.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

I've heard that R. D. Mercer of Tulsa, Oklahoma is 5'5" and he stands ready to whup anybody's a## that gets between him and his beer. Don't think he owns a 968 though but I'll bet he can twist bolts off pretty easily.
I had to get a torque wrench (actually two) because the Porsche aluminum engine "feels" way different that the chevy 350s I used to work on. I HATE stripping bolts.

Thanks silver - maybe I'll try that - I'm 6-4 so I'll have to watch the lever arm - I'm really good a stripping bolts and nuts... <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/dry.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />
One reason I put aside plans to just tighten up the pan bolts was what I saw when I got my new oil pan gasket - each hole in the gasket is fitted with a steel sleeve for each bolt - that prevents the gasket from getting squished but so much. Made me think that tightening it wouldn't actually do that much. But you've proven that it can be done!

My shop gurus did say that the bolts tend to loosen up a bit...
