Are you going to have to beat Steve in the fall enduro at PIR? I can't wait to start my racing season in 37 days.
Maybe. I'm pretty sure I'm going to run the 968, especially since it is now going to be a 12 Hour race. Good luck with yor car. Is the race at Pacific?

Quote:With new NASA and PCA rules we are up 20-30HP from where you were. More on the Horizon
With the classes I'm running, I'm only limited by my pocketbook - so it is pretty limited!

Eric, I still think it's pretty increadible just how well you do with basically a lightly modded 968. Like in the eduro race last year where you started dead last and made it all the way up to 4th was it? I think once you get more power into that car you will be winning events more often than not

And speaking of races, the next race at Pacific Raceways is in May? I'll be there for that one

The SOVREN race schedule includes several races at Pacific, and our first race is there April 18-20. The Pacific Northwest Historics should be of interest to all Porsche fans becasue Porsche will be the featured Marque. There should be a large field of historic Porsche race cars. Plan on a 4th of July celebration with Porsche at Pacific!

The SOVREN 2008 schedule is:

2008 SOVREN EVENT CALENDAR

June 14-15 Maryhill Loops Hill Climb* Maryhill Loops Road, Washington

July 4-6 Pacific Northwest Historics* Porsche featured Marque Pacific Raceways

July 12-13 Portland Historic Races * Portland International Raceway

Aug 2-3 NW SCCA Regional-SOVREN Bremerton

Aug 16-17 VRC of BC Historic Races * Mission

Eric,

Congratulations to you and Steve at the Enduro !

I just saw the post that the October race will be a 12 hour that should be really interesting on the changed PIR track. I might need to get over there and crew for someone.

Stephen, Thanks for posting the Sovren schedule. I haven't made it over to the Historics, sicne the kid were born . Are you planning on doing the Hillclimb in June ?

Hi Mike, No I can't make it to the Hill climb. It is one of the best anywhere from what I'm told. I 'have to' go to Hawaii then for a meeting. I should make most of the other races, and for sure the Historics with the Porsche and the Columbia River Classic on Labor day - we'll be celebrating 40 years of Formula Ford then.

Cheers,

Soon indeed Eric. Thank you for asking. The car is finally getting to a somewhat completed stage even though it will continue to be a work-in-progress throughout the year (knowing perhaps that it never does end....). I had been out in San Diego and the South Pacific for the last 5 months and was unable to put in the "bonding" time with the car. I finally did this past week and, with Pete & Max's help, we are finishing the basic platform as I write. Just today I had a set of Hoosiers mounted on the new Enkei 18s. Between tomorrow and Th, the sunroof delete skin panel will be in, it will be aligned & corner balanced, and mostly complete with the typical few miscellaneous remaining items.

Effectively it will be race "compliant/ready" by Thursday. I have the first "shakedown" open track run scheduled for Friday at Pocono North with NASA but I hear it will be raining so it may turn out to be a "drift 101 self tutorial" day. I may have to wait to the following weekend (at the same place) with NNJR PCA for three days of track time with a dry track.

I still have a few key items for the next few months (wallet permitting) that will concentrate in power bumps (cams, throttle body, exhaust tuning), some additional Lexan, fuel cell, fire system, and maybe some graphics/paint. I will defer the fiberglass body parts on a sure to come up "as needed" basis.

I will start a thread with pics and details once I consolidate the info and take some photos. May do a website kind of like what you have done (most likely not as nice). And, who knows, maybe Pete will profile under a "project car" in his site. I am hoping to race NASA GTS and/or PT series. Not sure yet exactly which class. But certain to be in the "slow rookie - better car than driver" class for a while!

How is your race day winning weapon looking for 2008? I am hoping I can get to chat with you, Jim C, and others to perhaps learn a thing or two from your experiences..

Cheers!

I'll be doing all of the NASA Mid Ohio races this year, so if you're able to make one of those make sure to look me up. Let me know if you decide to run GTS, as I'll be able to answer any questions you have.

Thank you Jim. I look forward to meeting you and talking story. I appreciate all the info you have provided me aleady as well. It helped define some of my direction early on.

I intend to be at the June 6 weekend NNJR event at Mid-Ohio. I'll definitely cordinate if you are going to be around. 8 hour drive for me from Philly though..... not looking forward to it... maybe I can convince Pete to caravan up.... I will try to do some of the NASA events there as well.

I'll be racing with NASA at Grattan that weekend. At this point I don't have any DE's scheduled, just race weekends.

A sure sign the slope only gets steeper the farther you go. I used to do DEs all the time but now they don't quite cut it anymore.

This is a really cool time of year.

Pablo's car is essentially completed. Lots of future stuff to look at.

I picked up my Firehawk from bodyshop today. I hope it's finally straight.

Off to the dyno soon-This car has some interesting mods I want to test.

Some mods don't do S__t

I feel exactly the same way. The competitive aspect is what makes it fun for me these days. I get bored if nobody is keeping score.

I was finally able to come up with some software that recovered the media file that was lost on the video camera's memory stick. So I now have in-car video from the race (at least most of the race)! I combined it with some of Renalicious' trackside video and posted it on Youtube for easy viewing. Thanks to Ren for coming to the track with his camera. I also put up video of the 2007 race in the 968.
