Exhaust Note Recording Party
#1

OK, people will call us crazy for this, but hey, any excuse to get together and ooh and aah about our cars.

Date: Saturday, Feb 23rd, 2008

Time: 9am-ish

Place: Darryl's Office Complex - Sterling, VA - please PM for directions and address details.

I'll have gear setup to record exhausts and we should be able to post almost immediately. If you want to wash your car, I can accommodate that as well. You must bring your own tub of elbow grease!

There is no lift (yet), but if anyone wants/needs to do any minor work, I do have most of what we'd need. 2 hydraulic floor jacks, jack stands, compressor, basic tools, etc. Bring parts and/or tools and anything else you want and we'll make a day of it.

No set time(s)...I'll hang out most of the day (as I usually do) since this is my home away from home...if you can't make it right at 9, come by whenever. Send me a PM or an e-mail and I'll include a couple of different contact numbers for day of.

Do people want to hear the RSB cat back with a header or without, I'll bring whichever car people would prefer, but they do sound different.

Keeping a close eye on the weather...I think we may be OK if the called for rain/snow/etc. gets out on Friday night as currently expected. I'll be here anyway, so if in doubt, give me a call. Whoever is interested in stopping by or hanging out, please PM.

If the nasty weather is slow moving and Saturday morning proves to be a little rough, we can just push the time closer to noon-ish, but we'll see.

All of the gear is ready to go, and I'm planning on testing everything Friday evening...may even have something to post as a sample.

OK - WEATHER UPDATE

As of this writing, we're still on! I'll rely on Mark and Patrick to let me know about how things progress further north and west. I'll post again toward the end of the day and let everyone know what's it's actually like in Sterling. I currently do not have any plans on Sunday and it looks like a much better day with slightly higher temps, so we may just have a two day weekend event! Depending upon everybody else's schedule next weekend is open for me as well.

Joel - My car has the header and catback

The bad news - my driveway had a 1/4 inch of ice when I left at 7:00 this morning, if this actually does get worse with freezing rain there is no way my car is going to make it up the driveway. Pisses me off since my intention was to go to OG Racing down the street from Daryl's shop to talk to them about seats, I need more headroom and they are not open on Sundays except maybe once or twice a year.

If not Sunday next weekend might be OK but my car will not probably not be available but we can use the wife's which has the RSB catback

I'm too much of a punk to drive the 68 on ice. On the way here (Im at work in b-more) I came across 2 accidents, one appeared to be right as a lady got OVER a bridge she spun her car off the road.

Sorry Darryl. I for one would like to reschedule.

ANOTHER WEATHER UPDATE

After reading Mark's and David's posts and talking to Patrick, it seems the folks further north are getting it a little worse than we are here in NoVa. No problems at all on any roads here (yet) but that could change if/when the temps drop. Anything horizontal that doesn't move has a thin coating of ice, but everything else is fine.

Don't worry if you can't make it...not worth jeopordizing anyone's safety or car...open invitation.

So its still on. OK. How many different exhaust setups are confirmed?

Even if I cant make it, I'm very interested in this post. Once done right, we should start a separate thread make it a sticky and close it so the exhaust notes are immortalized. Discussions can and will continue with links to the sticky.. A great comparo for present and future 968 owners. But thats just my thoughts.

Yes, still on from my end. I was planning on 4 or 5 different setups but of course, that will depend on people being able to make it. Just checked weather.com again and it looks as though the storm is moving out. I'm already melting here in Sterling, and it looks like no precip for Saturday, so if you can get out of your own driveway, ou should be OK, BUT, I reiterate that it's obviously not worth anyone's safety or risk to get here. Me and my recording gear will be here setup and ready to go!

Well, they dropped the storm warning down to an advisory so we'll see what things look like later tonight.

I'll also see about swapping wheels back to the 16's tonight.

The parts of the driveway I have to use to get from the garage ot the street look good now. It is raining/drizzling but if it is just a glaze of ice in the morning I'll spread chemicals and ge the car out. I'll post up in the morning to confirm but it looks good now.

How's the parking lot at your place Darryl?
