P05 Club Coupe Specification 249
#1

Investigating my 968 more, I found that factory ordered options included:

S4B Cellular Phone -Black Console

XD4 Rim caps with Porsche Crest

437 Full Power Seat - Left

then it had:

P05 Club Coupe Specification 249

with the P05 being the option code that I can't find. Does that just mean that it's a coupe? I found 249 as another option code on some Porsches as an auto trans but the P05 was in the Option code row...and 249 tacked at the end. This doesn't ever appear to have been an auto. What gives?

There also was a 718 Option Code "Model Designation" Not sure what that means either.

Any ideas?

Check this list below. It is one of the most comprehensive lists I have come across. It has your codes in there.

Thanks, much. Great list!

That list shows P05 as the "Advanced technic package"

I'm still confused as to what that would that be?

P04 says "advanced technic package including Bose sound system"

it therefore seems logical to assume that since P05 is "advanced technic package" that the two are somehow related

Then someone perhaps ripped the Bose deck out and put in a CR-1. I've ordered a Becker CDR-210 and should have it installed soon. Hopefully you're right. Maybe the rest of the system has been upgraded. Why they'd call it the Club Sport thing is beyond me. I thought the Club Sport was to be a stripped down car.

The CR-1 cassette machine that came with my car did not come with a CODE number so it's currently a door stop. Not easy to get CODEs. I guess that's good in that it keep the stolen decks down but I've noticed several Porsche radios for sale of eBay minus the CODE number...with the note "Call your Porsche Dealer for the CODE" I don't think they'd give out a number that doesn't match a VIN....

Irritates me. The radio was playing when I bought the car but the PO can't find the number. I'm pretty sure he took the "better" machine out and put the CR-1one in. The 210 should look "right" when installed.

I meant Club Coupe rather than Club Sport...there's a big difference I suspect. I'm not sure what the difference is between a regular Coupe and a Club Coupe though. Marketing maybe.

When I installed my CDR-210 I also needed a code. I went to the service dept of Barrier Porsche, here in Seattle, and gave them the serial number of the radio. They were able to get me a release code from their computer. They did ask me for the model and year that the radio came from. Use 1996 993; it worked for me.

P.S. remember to pull 12VDC from the clock lamp in the cubby and hook it up to the illumination line. Our harness does not supply night time illumination to the radio, which the 210 needs.

Thanks, SILVY968. Do you remember that dark green 968 on consignment at Park Place Ltd in Bellevue? I was within $500 of buying it but we couldn't come together. I got a much better deal on my black 968, with 20 some thousand fewer miles...but the green one sure looked nice. It was a Tip, mine's a 6 speed. Glad I held off. But I'm on the endless road of upgrading.

You should be glad that you did not get the green tip.

She was a dog, a female with no balls and she leaked water into the interior like crazy!

Had you driven her, you would have walked away.

You got the better deal!!!

Re. the mods... what have you done? What are you planning?
