[quote name='Harvey' date='Jan 13 2006, 08:23 AM']Then someone perhaps ripped the Bose deck out and put in a CR-1. I've ordered a Becker CDR-210 and should have it installed soon. Hopefully you're right. Maybe the rest of the system has been upgraded. Why they'd call it the Club Sport thing is beyond me. I thought the Club Sport was to be a stripped down car.
The CR-1 cassette machine that came with my car did not come with a CODE number so it's currently a door stop. Not easy to get CODEs. I guess that's good in that it keep the stolen decks down but I've noticed several Porsche radios for sale of eBay minus the CODE number...with the note "Call your Porsche Dealer for the CODE" I don't think they'd give out a number that doesn't match a VIN....
Irritates me. The radio was playing when I bought the car but the PO can't find the number. I'm pretty sure he took the "better" machine out and put the CR-1one in. The 210 should look "right" when installed.

When I installed my CDR-210 I also needed a code. I went to the service dept of Barrier Porsche, here in Seattle, and gave them the serial number of the radio. They were able to get me a release code from their computer. They did ask me for the model and year that the radio came from. Use 1996 993; it worked for me.
P.S. remember to pull 12VDC from the clock lamp in the cubby and hook it up to the illumination line. Our harness does not supply night time illumination to the radio, which the 210 needs.
