Emergency Contact List
#1

Hi, I am Greg Robbins. I just purchased a '95 Cabriolet. Been looking for the "right 968" for some time.

I am also a big 914 junkie. For the 914 crowd at www.914club.com I created an Emergency Contact List for members to use when traveling. When you are on the road and something goes wrong, it is nice to have someone who has knowledge of 968s to call on for help, advice, and recommendations.

Basically, the list contains the contact name, city/state, notes, and contact information. No addresses are provided, and the list is only distributed by snail mail to forum members who request a copy.

Sample:

Arizona, Phoenix, Greg Robbins, 623.939.2744, Note: tools, food, bed

PM or email me if you would like to be listed as a contact.

Nice idea, one could use listing from Porsche Club Panorama.

Greg, interesting idea. Do you have knowledge about whether the 914 list was ever used by anyone? Was there ever a damsel in distress that was saved by a fellow owner?

The 914 list was started because of a owner driving from California to Tucson Arizona lost a alternator pulley. He called a friend in CA who posted his cell number to the web. Short story, a mechanic saw the post and opened his shop on Thanksgiving weekend to help out. Since then lots who are traveling have asked for a copy of the list "just in case." I know of a few times it has helped, and a lot more times were it put people in contact with other owners while traveling so they could swap lies and share food/drink. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/wink.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

Not many people know about 968s. If I am out of my home area, it would be nice to reach out so someone who can direct me to a good repair shop who knows the cars, or a good place for parts.
