Early Front and rear engine covers
#1

Anyone install these on car that didnt come with them originally?

Looks like i need to drill holes in the strut towers to install the rear cover.

The front cover tabs dont seem to line with anything....I'd like to install both (the rear cleans up the engine bay, and the front will help kee hot air out of the intake).

So what am i doing wrong.

i did on the white car - the front one sits nicely in there with no help - the rear one is just in with the clips - readily available

The front seemed as though it was loose just sitting there. however, it is missing one of the rubber pieces, only one side has it. Where do i get the clips for the rear, what do they attach too, and how much are they? Do you know where i can get the missing rubber piece for the front cover?

When I got my engine cover pieces, I had the same issues. They were both from dismantlers. My front piece only had one of the rubber gasket (friction fit) pieces too. I just cut the one that was on it into two pieces, and put one piece on each side. This made for a nice snug fit at the front and kept it from moving around. Now where the front piece attaches at the inner fenders, I had to make a 'L' bracket to screw to the inner fenders that the 'plugs' would fit into.

For the rear engine cover piece, I ordered the clips from Porsche. They snap right over the metal seam at the back of the engine bay at the firewall. I was very reluctant to drill into the shock towers, so I used black velcro (self adhesive) to keep the tabs that mount there in place.

Hope this helps a bit.
