Driving Gloves
#21

Thread revival. On my trek from Cincinnati I had the same problem I did from Pburgh - hands started to ache. So, I stopped off at a Home Depot or Lowe's and bought some light duty Mechanix gloves. They worked great. Wore them again on a test fun run - loved them. Now I am wearing them to work - haha you should see the looks I get with the shirt and tie combined with the Jimmy Johnson gloves

Of course the best glove to wear would be a professional style Nomex glove. They are comfortable, wick the sweat away from your hands, have leather palms and can be combined with a driving suit for track days. I also have a pair of the old fashioned look leather gloves that cover my hands completely, have a Velcro strap around the wrist and can be purchased at any Harley Davidson Dealership. I have a pair left over from my Harley period. Mine are Black and since they are a quality glove they do not bleed the dye onto your hand. Very soft, very comfortable and with all those little holes in them very cool in hot weather.

I have a pair as shown above in the picture with a brown and black style that I bought at my local Harley shop. Great leather and dyes that do not come off and relatively cheap. I Think I paid about $20 for the pair.

I find that the Harley shop is a great source for this kind of accessory as there products are designed for riding very high quality, and we all sort of ride while driving our 968's.

In my constant search for the perfect driving glove I think I may have found the answer. Cycling gloves. Modern designs using modern materials. I tried my cool weather gloves today and they were great. The finger tips have little rubber-like strips on them so after they warm up a bit they interact with an iphone. They are warm enough, grippy, wick sweat away, and reasonably priced. They come in fingerless for summer, full finger for fall and spring, and thermal for winter. There are also a variety of padding options from very thin to gel filled. I like the pearl izumi brand (just a happy customer), but there are loads of good brands. If you use driving gloves check out your local bike shop the next time you walk by.

Go to any Harley motorcycle shop. They have tons of gloves, both thin leather or thick warm gloves that are good for ridding bikes. They are all high quality, and some are actually reasonably priced

I like the Mechanix gloves, but actually wear a pair of driving gloves that I got from Griot's Garage.... IIRC...

They are black leather, don't weep color, are thin enough, and have a velcro strap for infinite adjustment...

Don't recall the price...

I like the Harley D idea also... will have to check my local shop for other options!
