Epoxy mix
#1

I am looking for anyone who might have experienced this problem. I selected an epoxy that was a blue/black. The sand was mixed by the company Estes. The floor was new and sanded prior to start of this process. The proper epoxy, clear, was put down and the sand broadcast(thrown) down. The problem is that the blue I see when the sand is on top of the epoxy drying is not the same color as when the sand is swept off before final coat is to be applied. Two shades off is considered normal, this is close to 10 off. The men laying the floor are perplexed. They do large commercial jobs and are not off the street. After quizzing him on the process and the steps he followed, the only variable that might be off is the percentage mix of the arious colors in the sand. Now that's my thought and I don't do this for a living. I just looked at the process and this seems logical. But what do I know! Anybody run into this before? It looks now that a different batch of sand will need to be ordered. That is not final. It is also a large job.
