Distributor Cap Wire Order

What is the firing order on the distributor cap. Had to start a new thread.. ready to start my car, finally. Um... this can be deleted after it's answered. I couldn't find any info in the 968 manual, rennlist, 968.com, or here.. sorry for the inconvenience

Not a dumb question at all. You are right, the documentation is not apparent in any manual.

Awesome. Started the car and at first it died; Almost had a a heartattack. Forgot to tighten the fuel lines when i changed the spark plug seals. Fixed that and it fired right up. No belt whine after 3-4 seconds. For some reason, the noise when starting doesn't sound like a whine, it's more like the car is struggling to start up. Oil is also pouring onto my exaust headers.... luckily i have another valve cover gasket. The bolts aren't tightened very much on the cover? 7 ft*lbs. Thankyou all for your help, this would not have been a successful project without your help.



... it is me, or every time i look at the balance belt i'm afraid it's going to skip a tooth. Did the 110* turn at center of longest run. i think it's ok though.

Great. Keep a close eye on the balance belt. Since you are not using a tension gauge, it might be prudent to set it a bit tight so it does whine when cold. Too loose and it could skip a tooth and flop around more than it already does.



The valve cover bolts are like long shoulder bolts. The torque on the bolts is to get them to seat and stay tight. The length sets the compression on the gasket, so if your gasket is worn out, it has lost its compression dimension.
