distrbutor magnesium parts needed
#1

It seems that my distributor cap will not mount flat due to the 2 magnesium pieces being corroded on my engine. Anyone with a parts engine that I could get these parts from?

If anyone can help or suggest a bone yard that you have had luck with, I would appreciate it. Part # 944 105 179 09 is VERY expensive.

Here are the part numbers:

944 105 189 04

944 105 179 09

Thanks Brian

Not sure I can picture what's wrong - you can't flatten them yourself?

Not bent. The magnesium has deteriorated, which causes the part to not fit flush; that causes the dist. cap to set slightly off center. The result is that the rotor cuts into some of the brass points on the "off" side. Also the piece being open to the elements allows moisture to enter the dist cap causing arcing, which causes idle stumble.

thanks for the tip about Pete. I'll leave a PM.

Ah, gotcha - I didn't realize the extent of the damage, and you're right about the $$$$!

As it's a 944 part, I'd try George Beuselink at 944ecology.com, he's nearby in the Hudson Valley, I've had good luck with him in the past and he helped me tremendously with my last P-car.
