my odometer gear stripped and i wasnt looking forward to hunting down a gear as well as replacing it. so while i was at hershey this year i came across a perfect condition 968 gauge assembly. guy said it was mine for $50. that along with a new thermometer $70.... i thought i couldnt really pass it up considering half the bulbs on my gauges were burnt out, person before me put those silver rings on it and did a horrible job resulting in one falling off and me taking the rest of the others off (leaving a super glue residue gahh), as well as the front face being cracked about 2 inches up from the bottom. i new clean gauges would be nice... so all in stalled all is working perfectly!
driving back to school i cant help but notice something about the gas gauge just isnt the same.... the gauge i used to have had the " 4/4...3/4...2/4...1/4 " next to the gas tick marks, my newly installed one does not. this gauge cluster has to be from a 968 given is has the electronic odometer. so i was just wondering if only the late 968's had the factions? and if anyone knows why porsche decided to make this change right before ending the production....
