What’s going on with 968 Sale Prices?

[quote name='RPM' date='Aug 16 2005, 08:52 AM']Well this ought to cheer everyone up. Just hope the bidder is legitimate!

25k 95 coupe currently @ $24,900 on eBay

I would not think twice about paying even $ 30k.. or more... for a 25k mileage coupe, if it was in mint condition.

( I think the seller's statement about it being "one of the lowest mileage in existence" is a bit of a stretch.. we've seen at least 2 cars with less than 12k miles sold just in the last two years.. so there could be many garage queens out there with owners which have no interest in parting with them at a similar mileage..or less ? ).

..and then there's the coupe ( other forum post ) with 93k miles on it which sold for $ 8,700 ! WTF ?! That's what TOTALED 968s should go for !

One used dealer lot here sold a 944s ( not an S2 ) last month for $ 11,500.

90k miles on it, it was nice, but far from what one would consider mint.

I think that the 968 is so rare that sometimes they get sold by people who know little about them and sell too low... and sometimes they get bought by people who know little about them and buy too high.

There just are not enough of these little beauties - one of their most attractive features in my mind.

Kinda digging up an old thread, but I paid $18,500 for my 92 968 Blk/Blk 48K miles, full records, new water pump, PS pump, and belts in the last 3K miles. Bought it from the second owner who worked at the dealership where the original owner bought and serviced the car.

I did pay pretty high dollar I think for it, but for the shape of the car and the knowledge of its care, I think I did alright. I plan to drive it for a long time, so depreciation be damned...I doubt that this thing will depreciate more than a few thou in the next 5-8 years honestly.

Plus, it's fun driving a car that people think is some sort of prototype or something...most people who I know and have run into have not ever seen one, and it has gotten more looks than my 993 and 996 have too
