I understand why you gave up on the glue



I reckon it took me about 40 hours to remove it all in total!



I am extremely happy with the result though. I'll post pics soon!

I understand about plugging the holes in the firewall but how did you plug the holes at the engine?



Its all part of the coolant system is it not so I need to blank off at the engine don't I?



When I looked it seemed impossible to get to without removing the engine?!?



I need a sealed firewall for regulations so capping the pipes is not an option.



RE: Aperture cover - neat solution - I reckon I'll do something similar.

You can just plug the coolant lines for the heater. On mine the hose coming off the top of the water pump is capped as is the hose at the rear of the block.



I have also seen it where the coolant pipe above the headers is retained and then a hose is run from the end of that pipe into the return which is at the top back of the block. It just bypasses whole heater core. It is pretty simple and doesn't require any engine pulling! You may have to move some stuff to get at the hose on the rear of the engine though.
