CRC MAF cleaner
#1

Need advice in using CRC MAF Cleaner, NOT the throttle body cleaner. I have read in previous threads that the housing needs to be taken apart or can I spray it through the plastic screen. Is the procedure in taking the body cut and dry or can I get away without taking it apart. Thanks

I just removed the maf from the car and sprayed from both directions until everything was clean, left on a rag to dry. Sprayed the contacts as well, and left everything to dry. Really important to let everything dry before reconnecting and firing up. It works really well, you'll be pleased.

Thanks , that's great to hear I don't have to take it apart. How long did the car sit until you started it up.

Yes, the procedure is very simple; no need to take everything apart. However, from my experience at least, I'd say don't get your hopes up too much. I didn't notice a bit of difference in the way my car accelerated, the way it idled, its smoothness, or anything else. But then again, for watever reason, I've almost never found specialty cleaners and chemicals to have any impact (ironic, since I'm a chemical engineer). That includes Run-Rite, Techron fuel injector cleaner, Sea Foam, and a whole host of other stuff I've tried over the years. Not trying to talk you out of it, and many others have said it made a difference in their cars, just trying to set realistic expectations.

I'm in the final stages of a mild tune (cap and rotor to do - then fuel filter).....this sounds like something I may wanna tackle. Any leads as to whereabouts I'd find a 'how to' write up on this?

Cheers!

It's really just pull the air box off, pull the MAF off, then spray the cleaner. You could even leave the MAF on the car, it's tilted down so just put a rag under it.
