clutch pedal resistance

did a search, but no luck on pinpointing this issue: for the last six years I have had the car I never paid much attention to the fact that my clutch pedal has a lot of resistance compared to several other ( all of them for that matter ) 968s I have driven. by comparison it's pretty hard to push it, but it performs flawlessly, never any chatter,
so absent any problems i saw no reason to question if it's "right" or "wrong"

should I add more grease to the components ( I hear this can be done to loosen the resistance ) or if there are no problems should I just leave it as it is ?

i don't remember it being any different than any other really - there are a number of things that can contribute to that though - ring me up

The first thing Pete noticed when he test drove my car was that the clutch was too heavy. It had a Sachs clutch installed by the PO and it was for a 911. Over time it can damage the firewall and if your not fully depressing it you may not be getting full separation while changing gears.

Once I got my car back it took about 20% of the pressure I usually applied to depress the clutch and it got lighter as it traveled toward the floor. This may not be your issue but I thought I share the info anyhow.

Well, I'm having the firewall brace installed in about three weeks, so that should at least mitigate that risk. As for depressing the clutch all the way down, I don't even come close to doing that.. maybe I push it one third of the way in ( if even that much ..) when shifting gears. The pedal springs back as quickly and strongly as it resists when pushing it in btw..

that will benefit for both of us - i get an opinion / diagnosis of the clutch and you get to build up muscles by doing some serious leg presses . that girlie-man nautilus in your work out room is nothing compared to this [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif[/img]

My wife's 968 has a hard clutch and has for nearly 40,000 miles and that is the way she likes it. Crazy woman drives in heavy stop and go traffic for at least 10 miles each way for work, amazingly her left calf is not twice the size of the right. [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif[/img]
