No loctite is required on flywheel bolts

It really helps to have a mate to turn crankshaft at front of motor while you get to step torque flywheel bolts. We would make a paint dot for each round of torque to make sure all were done.

Yes, I first thought they may had had loctite on them because of the way some of them "popped" when I broke them loose, but have since learned that loctite is not used on the flywheel bolts.

I was also master of the clutch pedal and brake pedal pump...

The clutch job is described on pages 30-1 through 30-3 of the manual.  I can't remember where to get a copy, since I've had mine for so long.  The tightening torque specs are given on page 30-3, as follows:

 

Clamping sleeve bolt:  80 Nm (59 lb-ft)

Pressure plate:  23 Nm (17 lb-ft).  You have to around many times to get all the bolts to seat against the pressure of the spring

Guide tube: 10 Mn (7 lb-ft)

 

In case you have to remove the flywheel, its bolts are tightened in two stages.  The first stage calls for 40 Nm (29 lb-ft), and the second calls for 90 Nm (66 lb-ft).  Good luck - it isn't a terrible job, just a little tedious.

Do you notice a difference with the new clutch?


My clutch has about 40,000 miles on it so it should be good for a while.

Big difference. You really have to push that pedal down now, however it is still a soft push just like before.  Had to adjust seat. It is so smooth now much easier to run. I had about 2% left on the old,  perfect timing.....Very nice and appropriate maintenance!!
