Headlight Problem
#1

My driver's side headlight keeps going up and down once I start the car. If I put my parking lights on and time it for when the headlight is retracting it stays down. Will stay down when I start the car if I put the parking lights on first. If I put the headlights on they both go on normally, and sometimes, not often the drivers side will retract and stay down if the headlights have been on for awhile.

Making an appointment to have this checked out. I've taken things apart, looked into the situation, and could only find that the release pin was very tight on the drivers side. Everything else seemed normal.

1992, any thoughts?

probably a relay issue - i would pull the relays and clean the contacts first

I will try that tonight, are they the relays that look like two big ones together?

i'd have to look at the diagram on the lid of the fuse box - sorry - i don't memorize everything

disconnect battery first - use contact cleaner, and not some other chemical - clean both the relay pins and the sockets - use an old toothbrush, but do not use a wire brush as it may leave conductive material in there and short out a circuit - allow a few minutes to dry before reconnecting

I'll try that, I took the relay out at lunch and had a look at it. It looked brand new, contacts clear. Maybe its the sockets.

I appreciate your input, Thanks

Relays not new as far as I know (car new to me in Feb 07), cleaned things, same thing, up and down. Now it never goes down and stays there unless power is switched off, or parking lights are turned on. Guess I have to try a new relay, could be the quick fix.

Thanks
