Classic lines
#1

I'm sure this topic has been discussed before but just an observation. I had my white car up on a trailer so I could take it to Max and as I drove up to my garage I just stopped. Now the car is up on the trailer parked in front of the garage cameras trained on it and ready to go. I think to myself wow what a great looking car. The lines were just amazing. I don't know if it looked even better because the angle was looking up or what.

Mind you I'm talking about the coupe! The red car was up earlier this week, I spend a lot of time ferrying cars from point a to b and it has it's own cool looks because it is a track car.

For those of you who might think I'm just bragging about my cars, you're right. But boy they still sure look good! Think I will keep them.

I agree, one of the reasons I like the car is the lines, however, every once in a while I get that angle, from the 70s, with the rear hatch/bubble look, reminiscent of the 924.  This angle of a 924 caputures that bubble, and is the only flaw in my mind, Which is why the cabs can overcome that.

This picture of a 968 gets that angle a little but it is more pronounced in the 924 above:

I am convinced the 968 has "nice lines" is because it looks like a "proper Porsche".   The 924 and the 944 designs could have been from any other manufacturer.  But the 968 has a very strong resemblance with the 928 and the 964 / 993 which were the siblings at the time.  So many design cues on the 968 (mostly front and rear) that match the Porsche design themes.  Remember that our view of the car, or really our visual impression of the car is driven as much by what we can view and evaluate rationally as it is by our subconscious prior impressions.  And so we then conclude or explicitly decide that the lines are good by both the current view and prior views of other cars.

I've own both a 924 Turbo and a 944 NA, and neither one stirred the blood as much as the 968 does.  And I can't understand the current infatuation with the 944 Turbo, since there is nothing on that car that isn't better with the 968.  But again the appreciation of the 944 Turbo probably comes from those who admired it in the late 80s, because it was such a hot car back then.

Well, of course that isn't my car.  But mine is a silver coupe as in the pictures which makes it a nice association.
