I am convinced the 968 has "nice lines" is because it looks like a "proper Porsche". The 924 and the 944 designs could have been from any other manufacturer. But the 968 has a very strong resemblance with the 928 and the 964 / 993 which were the siblings at the time. So many design cues on the 968 (mostly front and rear) that match the Porsche design themes. Remember that our view of the car, or really our visual impression of the car is driven as much by what we can view and evaluate rationally as it is by our subconscious prior impressions. And so we then conclude or explicitly decide that the lines are good by both the current view and prior views of other cars.
I've own both a 924 Turbo and a 944 NA, and neither one stirred the blood as much as the 968 does. And I can't understand the current infatuation with the 944 Turbo, since there is nothing on that car that isn't better with the 968. But again the appreciation of the 944 Turbo probably comes from those who admired it in the late 80s, because it was such a hot car back then.

Well, of course that isn't my car. But mine is a silver coupe as in the pictures which makes it a nice association.
