Chirping from front of engine
#1

Hi All. I'm REALLY enjoying my owned it for one year 94 cab! As of late tho, on dead cold starts, it will chirp randomly, sometimes quickly, sometimes with 2 or 3 seconds in between. After a minute or so, it's gone for the rest of the day. With the hood up I can hear it right in the front covers of the engine. As I'm in Iowa, it will go into storage soon. Any ideas? Is this something that can wait till Spring-so I can save up more $ to pay for the repair? Thanks!

First guess would be a noisy belt, but with out hearing it it's hard to say for sure.

If it has a metalic/grinding sound mixed in, it might be you waterpump. But it might just be a belt, I hope so for your sake.

I'm gonna go with a slightly loose belt as it had a front engine reseal, water pump (and all related parts), timing and balance shaft belts and cam tension roller replaced less than 10K ago. When I do my oil change, I'll have my guy check it out. Thanks, all!

I would check it very fast before somethings goes really wrong. Maybe the tension is not correct anymore. Without a delay I should check this first before driving with it.
