Is it that they just get more publicity or do these cars crash at a greater rate than
all other Porsches ? Must be way too much power for the drivers to handle properly. And yet, the HP race continues with what now appears to be simply
little more than ego-driven competition between makers - 400+ hp is almost entry level, so much so that Audi, Peugeot, Subaru, etc. have some in store for next year, 500 and 600 hp may become common place for stock MBZs, and then of course, there are the super exotics like the Bugatti with nearly 1,000 HP propelling it to 250mph + ... for a street car ! But why would that be surprising when you can reach 195 mph , and go 0-60 under 4 seconds in cars that "only" cost around $ 200k ? Lots of people have $ 200k to spend on a car, but I wonder how many of them can deal with 600 or 700 horses under their foot without wrapping those beautiful machines around the first telephone pole outside of their driveway ?
I see lots more crashes in the cards.. The DMV should probably mandate a DE course for every vehicle over 400 ponies. Yeah, I know, no way to regulate modified engines and also a bit of a draconian statement, but you just wait until that 78 year old granny in Pasadena climbs into her new 900hp V16 Caddy
( scheduled for '07 release , right ? ) and takes out about 10 cars stopped at the intersection of Arroyo Parkway and Colorado blvd ? <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/dry.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/wink.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/ohmy.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />
Aw, shucks, you guessed right; I'm just venting because I'm envious the 968
can barely keep up with friggin' Pontiacs ( GTO ) nowadays <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/mad.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/wink.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />
