Center console bezel remove - HELP please
#1

I just replaced my worn/torn manual shift knob with one off ebay that has LED light for that pattern. Looks & fits great (not wired yet however).

That said, I'm trying to new to route the wires to the lighter for a power source. Lot's of experience with electrical but I'm not used to working car interiors.

I don't see how the Center console bezel is removed. I removed the 2 screws holding the bezel down (under the leather shift boot).

There are 3 switches in the console, CD-2, and a square clock.

The easiest and closest spot is the light for the ash tray. The wire runs right past the shifter and it hot when the lights are on.

remove the ashtray and under radio cubby with gentle pulls. Remove four screws that hold down shift knob boot. wire that runs to ash tray bulb will be obvious (the one with two skinny wires and black tape). Tap into this line. get the polarity correct for LED power. just check before final mount that enough power goes to light LEDS when dimmer pot turned up or down.

Thanks for all the help. I didn't know about the ash tray having a light. Apparently burnt out. I only got the car last month. I will try using that to tap into. Thanks so much for the heads-up.

Once I've finished that my next task is to replace the instrument cluster lights which are very dim. I replaced the rheostat last week but that didn't make any difference to the instrument light output. I've ordered replacements bulbs to take care of that next.

Much thanks to all !!!

When you pull the cluster out, there are some refelecters the help disperse the light.

This coating usually deteriorates over time.
