Cayenne Turbo S
#1

I drove a friend's Turbo S Cayenne today. Wow! A SUV faster than my little 968. I've got an X5 and love it, but I've love to have a Cayenne, except for the fact I could buy two X5's for what a Turbo S cost.

It's a truck!

But it is a fast truck that handles pretty well and can tow your track car without breaking a sweat.

Just don't get a flat as I'm not sure they come with a spare tire. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/smile.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

We have a "lowly" Cayenne S, and even it is very quick. In addition, he handling is unbelievable for a truck. I have pushed it hard, and it's amazing. At Parade a couple of years ago, I watched a couple of experienced autocrossers do some runs in a couple of Cayenne Ss, and laid down times that were in the same neighborhood as a very competitive 968 class. I may have to try it out on the track and autocross myself.

I loved my Cayenne S, I plan on getting a Turbo as soon as my Lease is up on the Denali. You get a spare if you have a non Bose equiped car. Porsche uses the Spare tire cubby for the Bose Sub. The Cayenne may be a truck but it handles very well!

My X5 is a truck, but I love the handling, although it is not a Cayenne. Maybe when I change business vehicles it will be a Cayenne.

I have the Cayenne S also and it is a very impressive vehicle truck or not. [Although I'm sure I have the Bose and the spare tire too]. I have been to the Porsche Driving Experience and been in the Cayenne on the track. Did a ride along in the Cayenne Turbo with a professional driver and he was 3-5 seconds slower than another pro in a regular 911. That was with 4 people in the Cayenne. I had a Jeep Grand Cherokee and a 911. Come home sold the 911 and the Jeep and bought a Cayenne [need a dog truck]. For the driving I do the Cayenne serves every purpose, and I smile alot.

My concern is that with increased speed, you would be able to easily flip over, is that true?

I have never been in one, but have always loved the interior and the Cayenne itself just keeps growing on me! I sure wish Porsche would have come out with a front engine sports car BEFORE the Cayenne, but I guess they felt they had to and it sure is generating them a lot of money!

I've always thought of a SUV as an off road vehicle. There's nothing like going from 0 to 60 MPH in 4+ seconds while in the deep woods on a hunting trip. I just hope I can afford one some day.

I just read in car and driver that the fastest suv is now the Jeep SRT8. And I guess somebody just turbocharged it for 600+ hp. Anybody driven one?

badge not so good, but I must admit it looks a lot better than a Pepper. . .

A friend loaned me his Cayenne Turbo. I had five people in the thing and we lead a 8 hour tour through the Texas Hill Country. We did the same roads I normally cruised and that thing was amazing! It wasn't a great in the turns as my 968, but it was damn close.

If I had the money I'd buy one of these 'trucks' in a heart-beat!

i can't argue with the turbo's performance figures - they come at an extreme premium though

we looked at it pretty seriously when considering what to get to be the "all round" vehicle - tow capacity was a limiting factor - it was less than what we wanted, and the short wheelbase would have made it a handful with a large load

we ended up with the 06 yukon denali - a few grand thrown at it in mods (big rotors, bit tires and wheels, swaybars, springs, lowering kit, reprograming), and it handles amazingly well (already had it over .75g with no issues - it has an onboard g-meter - how cool is that?) - i'm now pushing a california legal 375hp with tons of torque everywhere - mileage is 13/17, and just over 12 towing all the way to portland and back - full 3 rows of seating (though we have yet to use them) and a lot more cargo room, even with the short wheelbase model we got - all that for half the price of the turbo

granted that the badge isn't the same, and everything that goes with that, but we have really come to love the car

parts are next to nothing too
