Temporary Bras
#1

Planning a bit of a road trip and I want to minimize or hopefully eliminate rock chips. I have a 1980's vinyl bra, but have found that on longer trips I get a lot of rubbing which is almost as bad as the rock chips. I've seen here that painter's tape can minimize that, but the sand and grit tends to settle into the trailing edge of the bra creating a nice opportunity for a sandpaper party.

Has anyone used these temp bras? Basically thick plastic sheets with a water-based adhesive that you can peel off.

Here is a link to one such product. No affiliation, just asking for opinions

There are also liquid products that frankly look like a mess to get off.

Alternatively I can see just taping the front end with a 3 layers of blue tape - looks wack but would probably do the job. And what do folks use to remove the adhesive from painter's tape when you peel it off?

Eventually I am going for a proper clear bra, but I need something short term.

Opinions and experience welcome.

Thanks

Joe

Interesting, I need to ship my car back from RSBarn and this road wrap stuff looks like it might come in handy.

Rxter,

I layered it. basically i put down one strip, the the second strip i'd place 50% over the first strip and and 50% above it. Continues to do this with each additional strip. Essentially created a double layer with the exception of the first half the first strip and second half the last strip.

Some sections had small 3rd layers on them (the missed a spot sections around the edges, etc.) Took a while to get it all on there. I went up about 1/3rd of the way over the hood and fenders. Masked the entire bumper as well (minus the air vents).

I told myself i'd buy an oem leather bra to avoid doing this again...but havnt bought one since. So i will be using painters tape again this year. lol.
