Resetting the Tiptronic shift patterns
#1

I saw a thread before on the procedure to reset the control module on a tip transmission to the default settings. Is anyone familiar with the procedure?

Disconnect the battery for about 30 minutes. The next few times you drive, it will set it'self based on how aggressive you drive. IIRC, it constantly learns, but faster after a reset.

Thanks. I do have a followup question though. If you drive agressively, the brain "learns" an agressive shift pattern. But then you have to continue to drive agressively to maintain that particular shift pattern, correct?

Since it is constantly adjusting, yes. But it takes time to adjust. Driving it easy for a day shouldn't change anything. It's cumulative habits that programs it. Resetting it just speeds up the process.

I'd love to use the automatic mode and take off in first gear, not second. Can this be programmed?

Yes. Disconnect the battery for a bit. Once you reconnect it, drive it a bit more aggressive. It will select a shift pattern that best fits your driving habits. Depending on how much you throttle on take off, will determine the gear selection each time you accelerate in the more aggressive shift mappings. Good luck.
