I hope this is not a potential problem. I recently had to change a rear wheel bearing. I pulled the control arm and brought it into the shop to press in the new and press in the hub. It appears that they pressed in the hub about 1/4 to 1/2 inch more than it was before, which means the caliper is now rubbing on the disk (quite a scare after I put it back together, was going to take it out and there was a grinding noise... I drove it 1 foot and back again ).
Anyhow, my solution was to put a shim (washer) between the caliper and trailing arm. Are there shims made for this purpose? Is this dangerous? Any suggestions (I should make the pressing shop take care of it, but that would mean pulling it all apart again, and I do not feel like doing it over ).
Oh, by the way, I did take it out for a test drive, and it was great to have her back!
Thanks again, have a great weekend!!
On the rear callipers , there should be a thin shim / spacer between the calliper + trailing arm anyway.
Ive had 4 of these cars + theyve ALL had these shims.
Did it not fall out when you removed the rear calliper.??
