Jeff, interesting stuff. I also appreciated the reading test: but I caught the "Adventurine".

Should I resubmit my car's color, as it is no longer "black"? It is now Basalt Black Metallic (still a real Porsche color, just not an originally available 968 color).

Anchor, no, we'll stay with original colors.

Isn't that the correct name for that color?

Here's one with that spelling on eBay right now.

So it's aventurine?

Thanks

I have never heard of some of the one-off colors. A very cool list!

Correct, Jeff - it's "Aventurine". (In fact, there had been a thread about this color some time ago - with the spelling being one of the discussion points.)

I'm glad you enjoyed it. Yes, many of those one-off colors were offered in 1992 only, back when there was a lot of hope behind the success of the 968.

That's Amathyst, a 92-93 standard metallic offering. Many of us have seen that exact car in person. It is pretty neat.

I searched cause I know the answer to this is in the forum somewhere, and I know that Jeff answered it. Is there a coupe registry? I am asking because I saw a Zermott Silver Metallic for sale. The color is rather uninspiring, but the name is wicked cool. Apparently some place in Switzerland.

Thanks

Well I never! To be fair the Zermatt is pretty nice after a good wash, wax and the sun hits it on a nice seaside day

My S2 is Zermatt Silber - http://www.legacygoldsmiths.com/944s2/

Now I have to go talk to her, she's upset; I think she heard you.

Sorry Dave. Every car I've every purchased has been black, so I have no right to a silver opinion really. I can tell a good black from a fair black though. My 325i had the BEST paint on any car I've seen up close. Although I do like the Slate Gray and Mid Blu - they are almost black. I'll look again for the coupe registry.

Ross,

As for NA cabs, 47 slate grey cars, eighth in color popularity for 968 cabs, as for tip, 189 of the 667 92 cabs were tips, 28%.

And there were 3 Zermatt silver 968 cabs produced. Pretty rare.

I'm working on my new North American 968 production data web site which will have all this cool stuff (if you like production data). look for it next year, I'll be sure to tell Bob when it is available.

I love Mint green 968s. I wonder if there are any Coupes? I've found these pictrues in the past. The first car has both front & rear techart spoilers. The second car was on 968.net registry, guy claimed it was owned by the factory from 1992-1996.

gorgeous coupe. I presume that was a '92? Maybe i'll hunt it down for my next 968.

The Second Mint Green Cab i found on 968.Net looks like a euro spec car (euro plate, side markers) It also has the later updatd 968 trunk badge. Perhaps there was more then one Mint Green Cab on .net?
