Cab Windscreen
#1

I don't think the cab I just bought has one (I know it is not installed in the car and I don't believe the previous owner has one). So- anybody have one they might be willing to part with...? PM me with details and price please.

TIA

Jim

Oooof! Well, I don't really have a lot of hair on my head so perhaps I don't need it.... I'll have to see how I like it without one on the drive home.

works incredibly well - reduces the wind to almost nothing - noise goes way down too - on a cold day, i can run the heat with the top down and be quite comfortable

I lived without one for many years, however, the wife's emjoyment of my 968 went up exponentially after we purchased the windscreen.

Domestic bliss is worth the price.

I'll keep my eyes peeled for a used one. I may have to wait for the Spring to get a new one as I have so many other things going on with the new cab and my old coupe... Mrs would probably shoot me if I dumped 4 franklins on a windscreen right now!

When you make the drive, you'll find that if you put the side windows up about 4 inches, the noise level is reduced significantly compared to having the windows down all the way. When I'm alone in the car with the top down, I prefer that to having the windows either all the way down or all the way up. When I'm not alone in the car with the top down, the side windows are usually up. (I'll let you guess why!)

lol - yup - it's amazing how much noise the wind over the mirrors generates - raising the windows up just above the top of them is all it takes

Hmmm- yeah, the Mrs usually doesn't like the windows to be down unless her hair is in a pony tail. But she craves a sunroof which her Honda Pilot does not have. I think she will like the cab with a windscreen installed. If not, too damn bad!

(Don't tell her I said that! )

I got the windblock last Spring from Sunset, and actually I'm not over the moon about how well it works. I do not notice much difference with the upper section up or down. I should try removing it entirely and measure some sound levels. I think things are a bit better at 65+ but it was not a dramatic change, and I still cannot keep any receipts in the center console and not lose them when I open it at speed. A lot of air still comes into the cabin backwards between the seats.

It might be better with the top boot on, or with the windows up a few inches but I usually have my elbow on top of the door frame so I'm not crazy about having the window up a bit. the big problem seems to be air bombing in behind my left (passenger right) shoulder under the windstop and then back out into the cabin over the center console. The cab top boot does not really help with that (the opening is still there) and the boot is more difficult to fit with the windblock in place.

I have thought about fitting a curtain to the windstop to block some of that air, I might play around with some closed-cell foam blocks to see how easy it might be to really sort this problem out.

first off, you should always run the top boot if you don't want the headliner to get full of gunk that is in the air, and don't want it to sun bleach or get wind worn

no, the windscreen by itself will not prevent the receipts to flying around, and only blocks so much - it's the same in just about any car - same thing in our M3 - but if you roll the windows up too, it should be pretty danged calm in there - my co-pilot can read an unfolded map at 70 mph with it like that

I think it works well. I listen to CD's at 80 mph and my air stays in place. That is, as long as I'm not behind a 18 wheeler.

Repeating whats already written. Day and night difference. The window height can regulate the air movement amazingly.....from almost none to prtty breazy. Wife really likes it now with the top down due to the hair thing. It was a good buy!!

Reviving this thread...

After 2+ years of searching, I found an excellent condition used windstop. I'm a little nervous that I will get screwed having sent money first, but I will keep my faith in the good of mankind just one more time!

If all goes well, and I don't get screwed, should be here in about 14 days... Just in time for some lovely winter weather!

Just an update -

Windscreen arrived safe and sound right after Christmas. Finally!! There's a scratch on one of the bars, but other than that, it is mint. I knew about the scratch before committing to buy.

With that said, anybody have any ideas on touchup paint? Looks to be satin black...

2011 shall focus on wheels (but we won't inform the mrs of said plan!)
