The Voltmeter of my 94 coupe goes to the max volt position (approx 14 VDC) when the ignition switch is placed to the RUN position with or without the engine actually running. When the key is placed OFF, the indicator needle drops back to Zero VDC.
I had some other items looked at by my local Porsche dealership (I just purchased the car a few weeks ago) and the mechanic checked the alternator and said voltage out put was good and it's either a bad guage or circuit board. Rather vague I thought.
Any more thoughts on trouble shooting or sources to purchase repair parts? The dealer wants $240+ for the guage alone.

Thanks Flash. Nice to know I'm not alone. I assume that while changing the VR will resolve the output issue, the guage is still going to be bad so I will only be able to monitor for low output thru the idiot lite.
Anyone have leads for guage repair facilities?
