No football / soccer ?
#81

despite the absence of Klose, the 3rd place match was very exciting to watch. I enjoyed it very much. Both teams put in effort i did not expect for a 3rd place match.

The Final was boring as i expected (thank you Spain). 128Min (including stopage time) of play and only 1 single goal. 11 Yellow Cards, Incredible. Spain wins the Cup with a record low (8 Goals).

Lastly, of the 4 men tied with 5 goals a piece....Muller who was most deserving of the Gold Boot.....gets robbed. And the least deserving player gets the prize. amazing.

Btwn the Insane amount of bad calls, poor choice for golden boot award, ridiculous amount of yellow and red cards, in combination with the dissapointing level of play many great soccer nations have showed and the most boring team winning the cup this year.....i'm pretty dissapointed with this years World Cup.

Though I think Spain is the better of the two teams and thus I am content with the result, I am also in complete agreement with every single point Fox made on the previous post.. pity this Cup turned out the way it has.

In spite of all that, kudos to South Africa : hosting the cup with exemplary organization, beautiful stadiums, fully immersed in the soul and spirit the game deserves... except ...those f'ing vuvuzelas - tradition or not, they were just annoying

Thanks for the contribution, did not expect this feedback (in a US forum).

Let's see what's going on in Brazil next time ...

Thanks to all who participated in the "fun" this thread added over the past month!
If all goes well, in four years time I hope to spend the entire month of the World Cup in Brazil. We still own a beach house in the northeast of the country (halfway between Recife and Maceio), so even if I only get to go to one game, the "vibe" will be great. Zindedine Zidane is by far my favorite player ever and one of the worlds greatest players to ever touch a soccer ball. Amazing & incredible don't even begin to describe this mans level of play during his career.

Despite not winning the cup, the dutch team came home to a heroes welcome on Tuesday. Almost 1 million people streamed into Amsterdam to see the team cruise down the canals.

Have a look at these videos

Just checked the YOUTUBE vidoes out!
The country would have gone crazy if they had become champions.

I do feel that there is something missing in people's lives if they go that far with their adulation...
To enjoy a good sporting event, I can fully understand. But to elevate the athletes to that level... HUM...

Yes and it is especialy strange if you know how sober the Dutch normally are. But on wednesday it was like the world cup never happened.

Agreed, Zidane was one of the very best of all time ! That said, I'm still shocked that someone who knows only too well that others will say and do anything to make you lose your focus and composure in a critical match, had a momentary lapse of reason - it's absolutely INEXCUSABLE for a pro player to do that DURING the match, and succumb to the heat of the monet emotions.. no matter what was said to him. I would have walked over to Materazzi AFTER the game was over and in true French spirit treat him to a Cantona ( another one of my all time favorites playres ) flying kick, and/ or knock his ass out.. agian, AFTER the game during handshakes.
