Hey guys. Hope to gain some knowledge from this forum. I currently drive a 2004 Boxster S 50th Anniversary Edition. Just had a baby and the wife is staying home with our child. Small payment left on the Boxster but have enough equity to move over to a 968 with no monthly car payment. I have always been a fan on the 968. Seems like a good time to try one on for size. Looking for any advice you giys have on this purchase. Have about $14,000 to spend. Let me know if you come across any nice low mileage coupes for sale! Watched a beauty in Buffalo, NY sell on eBay last night. Wrong color. Right car. -Tom

I think you'll be very happy with the move to a 968. You have the right attitude as well. PATIENCE. The right condition and color combo will come along eventually.

The coupe is also good for hauling cinder blocks, sprinkler pipe, a large family trip to Costco, all kinds of stuff from Home Depot. And as I am thinking about your situation, for the trip to Grandma's house the combination of stroller, diaper bag, folded playpen, toy bag, train set, and 3 suitcases. Or as Chris Vais just wrote in the other thread, 8 cases of wine. Congratulation on the new family member!

I made the transition a few years ago and never regretted it. I had an '01S and moved to a 968 coupe. Even though I live in SoCal (and had the top down most of the time on the Boxster), I never really missed it after it was gone. I really enjoyed the upgrades I did to the handling and engine but the 968 is just really cool. I got more compliments/comments on the 968 in a year and half of owning it than I did in 4 years of owning the Boxster so it shows how rare the car really is...

And with the 968 you don't have to give up your top down experience. Canadian 968 cabs (and US and Canadian 944 cabs) all had back seats with lab belts. This is an easy conversion on the US 968 cabs. The seat belt nuts are actually still in the floor pan. You just remove the double glove box assembly and add the belts. My kids sat back there for years until they grew legs. Having a 4 seater cab is great.
